Spring Update: Watermeadow Reserve
April 10th, 2017
We have been making steady progress in the watermeadow reserve, digging out the watermeadow and planting seeds and trees… We have hit a few snags, there were FAR more old drains in there that we thought, some of them dating back to the 1950’s deep underground and we have had to spend several weeks locating them and pulling them out for the area to flood properly.
We have graded the bank of the dug out area back and covered the whole patch with native cornflowers, poppies, cowslips etc so there should be an insect rich habitat there this year!
The other bank we have populated with native trees, which will provide a bushy undergrowth habitat in years to come.
