As you will appreciate, this is the busiest time of year here at Knoxwood. We are very short of help, and have been struggling to keep up with our workload. Thanks to a very generous grant, specifically for staffing, from The Three Owls Bird Sanctuary & Reserve this weekend, we are able to offer 2 part time jobs to the right people!

The positions are both as follows:
General assistant relief shifts
Location: Knoxwood Wildlife Rescue Trust, Thornby Moor, Wigton, Cumbria, CA7 0LA
Hours: 15 per week, VARIABLE 5 hour shifts to cover and assist core staff.
Terms: Fixed term employment for 26 weeks
Rate of pay: NMW
Start date: Immediate
Job description
Duties are to cover shifts when required for ALL members of staff at Knoxwood. This will include (but not limited to) direct animal and bird feeding, cleaning, assisting members of the public, general cleaning & housekeeping, fundraising activities, acquiring supplies, record keeping, mucking out, grounds keeping, assisting in any aspect of day to day running that is required mostly on but occasionally off site.
Training and requirements:
No formal training is required, but we will be looking for a cheerful, helpful and very hardworking individual to support a team that works extended hours under stress.
We require an honest and very reliable individual who is physically able to carry out the above listed tasks, who is not afraid to work hard in often messy circumstances.
This job will bring you into close and direct contact with animals and birds and is therefore unsuitable for anyone uncomfortable or unable to work around them.
You will be required to work unsupervised and often use your own initiative, but you should be able to follow instructions carefully and to the letter.
Essential: You must be available to work 3 different 5 hour shifts each week. These will vary from 9 to 3.30 / 12 to 5.30 / 3.30 to 9pm (5 hours + 30 min break) and will NOT be fixed on a weekly basis and will include weekends.
You must be reliable & punctual
You must be able to get transport to work to do the shifts we need. As this is a relief position you must be able to attend at our request.
This post will require a degree of responsibility, you may be left in charge of admissions on an evening shift, and therefore this position is not suitable for those under 18 years.
You must be available for immediate start.
