Apri 2014 Tree Planting

April 19th, 2015

Trees to be planted in the water meadow
Trees to be planted in the water meadow

We are now starting to make a few changes in the new water meadow reserve. We have been busy planting the first batch of new fruit trees around the edges of the field. These trees should provide blossom for local bees and butterflies and in years to come fruits for the local bird and animals. We have a variety of fruit trees including apples, pears, cherries and raspberry canes.

We have also been spreading a mix of different grasses and wildflower seeds all across the field. We spread a 8kg mix of native grasses mixed  with 2kg of native wildflowers an extra 1kg of poppy seed and 500g of beneficial herbs. These will all help the bees and butterflies thrive.
